History of Howies
in the heart of Edinburgh since 1990
David Howie Scott opened his first Howies in July 1990 at 75 St Leonards Street, Edinburgh. A 28 seat restaurant with no license, no good will and no customers.
Word spread fast that a great value local bistro, set price, fresh Scottish food with BYOB had opened and virtually overnight Howies made its mark.
Over 30 years later we are very proud that Howies Waterloo and Howies Victoria, two iconic locations in Edinburgh continue to go from strength to strength.
David is still at the helm supported by a very talented passionate team – all of whom work tirelessly to provide the very best of Scottish hospitality 7 days and nights a week.
Howies Restaurants also have an all day dining business called Scotts Kitchen. Located on Victoria Terrace a favourite spot for breakfast, brunch, cocktails and coffee and a great venue for a private party.
